After about 10 minutes of winding in and out of the backstreets of this community, we saw signs of children in uniforms and came to this street where we saw the banner that indicated we were there.

Most of the trasportation for the folks in this area is by motorcycle - men, women , children, even little babies in their mother's arms or in slings. They swarm everywhere through muddy little side roads and in and out of the narrowest little roads. It seemed incongruous that we should be riding into this situation in our sleek black vehicle. It felt so pretentious , but we couldn't have gotten there any other way. Ian and I took a very humblling, memorable trip to visit the Lantera school within about 15 minutes of where we are living. I am going to include several pictures of the journey there because it was so surprising how close it all is to this sophisticated village we are in at UPH. I tried to be discrete and not look like the proverbial "tourist" with my camera hanging out of the window and so took pictures from the back of our shiny black SUV as our driver took us into the heart of the poor village area. This is taken from the back window of our vehicle.
