I have known for some time that Bruce and Judy Comrie, (son and daughter-in-law of Roy and Gwyneth Comrie, long-time missionary friends of Dad and Mom (and Wendy) from Zim days), have been teaching at SPH (the grade school associated with this Pelita Harapan Foundation that we are teaching under at UPH).

I had made an intentional effort to meet Bruce because Dad and Roy had been talking about them and how great this school system is, etc, etc. Well, the first ex-pat I met when I walked onto campus at SPH was Bruce himself! There was no doubt that he was Roy's son - they are amazingly similar in looks!

Not only are his dad and my Dad friends, but is Gradnmother was one of my first Sunday School teachers when we were in Hatfield, and then, we ended up being in the same church as her when we lived in Salisbury, Rhodesia, at Calvary Baptist. (Wendy was the organist at that church, so she knows them all well too.)

Well, Bruce was astonished at the connection and was really happy that we had met. He and Judy, (a Canadian from Abbotsford, Vancouver, where Buddy and Mandy, and many other friends from Rhodesian days live), invited us to their home and then on to have dinner at the country club. Along with them was another teacher, Alexis, who was Marnie Barrett's roommate when the Barretts and Shawna Childs were here. They all started teaching here at the same time, but Alexis has never left.

The Comries have adopted 2 beautiful Indonesian children, and have been here for the past 12 years, and have no intentions of leaving here. They both teach at SPH. We had such a relaxed evening sharing background connections and enjoying getting to know them. It was a real treat to be with them.
